Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick are
expecting twin girls from a surrogate mother.
The couple, who will be celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary next
month, will finally be adding to their family after years of trying
unsuccessfully since the birth of their six-year-old son James.
A spokesman for the 44-year-old actress best known for her role as Carrie
Bradshaw in the hit TV show, and her actor husband, 47, said they were ‘happily
anticipating the birth of their twin daughters later this summer with the
generous help of a surrogate. The entire family is overjoyed.”
The surrogate’s name and exact details of the pregnancy have not been revealed but
a friend said: “They had a lot of unsuccessful tries and came to the conclusion
this was going to be the best alternative for expanding the family.
“They’re over the moon and excited as any prospective parents would be. Their life is
about to get a lot busier.”
Last year, their marriage was rocked by rumours that Matthew allegedly had an affair
with a 25-year-old youth worker whilst Sarah was shooting the Sex and the City
movie.
But despite the allegations, Sarah, who once described their marriage as a
‘treacherous train ride’, stuck by her husband, who never denied the rumours.
Relationship expert, Susan Qilliam told new!
“This could well be the case of a band-aid baby – or babies in this
case.
“It could be that Matthew’s alleged cheating was a response to trying for a baby as
when you’re trying for a long period of time, sex doesn’t become fun any more
and it almost becomes a chore. It takes the pleasure out of sex.
“Trying unsuccessfully for so long would have posed a major strain on their marriage on
a number of levels. Firstly, not knowing what’s going to happen and the anxiety
around it. If she’s tried IVF, the physical effects on her with all the
hormones would have been massive and that can lead to a lot of arguments.
“There’s also the question of who’s got the problem as in which on of them is the reason
for not being able to have a baby. There will be a huge guilt cycle and a lot
of blame going on.
“Even the strongest relationships don’t survive and people can split up even after
having their much-longed for baby.”
Fashion icon Sarah, has previously spoken of her desire to have a daughter as she has
been saving all her designer clothes and accessories for her.
Speaking soon after James’s birth, she said: “I want ‘The Girl’ as soon as possible.
I’ve been saving all my things for her. Everything – crazy Judith Leiber
handbags, Manolos – every single pair. I learned early on that if a designer
have me something and it said ‘Kate Moss’ in the waistband, I should keep it.”
What lucky girls!
